Strengthening the evidence base for maternal and child health programs

New: MCHbest strategies database for sample ESMs

Choose-and-Use Guides

Choose-and-Use GuideTo address states’ ongoing learning needs to improve measurable Evidence-based/informed Strategy Measures (ESMs) that advance National Performance Measures (NPMs), staff are developing an interactive, online ESM Choose-and-Use guides to link states and jurisdictions to best practice strategies in the field.

These online tools will allow you to find information on promising practices, download and adapt materials from other states/jurisdictions, and reach out to program staff for additional, focused technical assistance.

The tool will allow you to indicate (through a series of check boxes) aspects of ESMs that they are interested in (e.g., NPM topic area, population addressed, methodology, evidence level/type). Based on your search parameters, you will receive a list of evidence-based/informed programs that match your needs drawn from a centralized database that houses best-practice ESMs, along with contact information of the state/jurisdiction that created them, data on effectiveness, and summarized comments from project staff explaining the evidence base behind the measure.

Visit the MCH Digital Library for a prototype search of this tool!
